Vitiligo Skin Treatment

  •  Oral psoralen therapy
    Oral psoralen therapy is known as domestic remedy for the treatment of vitiligo, mostly formulated for people with more extensive vitiligo, (greater then 20%). It is applied through psoralea corylifolia seeds. Oral psoralen therapy is not recommended for children as it causes many skin problems including skin cancer, also increase the risk of eyes damages. The treatment is more effective to get recovery or cure from vitiligo by the combination of sun rays or sun exposure.

    For oral psoralen therapy, the doctor recommends patient to take a prescribed dose of psoralen drug before the treatment. On a domestic shell, it is advised avoid to take psoralen (a seed of psoralea corylifolia), by self, because it is very potent substance and should not be used without the counsel of doctor. The basic purpose of psoralen drug is to enhance the skin sensitivity of a person.

    PUVA Treatment
    Photochemotherapy or PUVA is an acronym where "P" stands for "Psoralen" and "UVA" stands for long wavelength UV light. It is a type of ultraviolet radiation treatment, used for severe skin diseases. Psoralen is a compound, mostly found in plants that help to increase the skin sensitivity to face UVA. Before the treatment, psoralen drug is given to patient. Different medicines include psoralen such as methoxsalen (8-methoxypsoralen), 5-methoxypsoralen and trisoralen.

    Topical psoralen therapy
    Substitute of (orally) psoralen; psoralen substance is taken in the variety of topical applications. Topical applications includes different creams & lotions etc, those are applied to certain areas of skin, but affective only to those areas which it is applied.

    Ayurvedic Treatment

     In Photochemotherapy or light therapy Psoralen drug along with UVB shorter wave length (315-280nm) is used, in order to re-produce pigmentary cells in skin. UVB rays have more power or energy in re-producing pigmentary cells in skin & more side effects. Children should be avoided from this kind of treatment as it can damages the vision of eyes, and also cause of skin cancer.

    Homeopathic treatment is most well-liked treatment considered now days, because of treating vitiligo skin conditions by natural products, which are produced from natural sources, free from chemicals, suitable for every skin with no side effects.

    Oxsoralen is highly phototoxic. So it should be used if physician recommends, and it is only applicable on small vitiligo spots.

    In this treatment physician takes pigment producing cells from any part of body with the help of surgical tools, transfer it to those parts of body, which have no or less pigment cells, also known as transplantation.
